    <title>Supporting Youth in Grand County </title>
    <link>https://grandfoundation.dnn4less.net/News/ID/34/Supporting-Youth-in-Grand-County</link>
    <description>The Grand Foundation is proud to support Grand County youth. Did you know&amp;hellip; youth participation in extracurricular activities is linked to academic improvement, physical health, the development of teamwork &amp;amp; problem solving skills, and an increase in self-esteem? According to&amp;nbsp;Athletic Business, kids and parents can agree on the benefit of involvement in sports, just one form of youth involvement the Grand Foundation supports:&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;
&amp;bull; 88% of kids reported experiencing an improvement in physical health&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;
&amp;bull; 73% of kids say it enhanced their mental health as well&amp;nbsp;
&amp;bull; 56% of parents say sports give their children skills to help in future schooling&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;
&amp;bull; 55% of parents believe sports give their children skills to help in their future career&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;
Sports aren&amp;rsquo;t the only form of extracurriculars proven to benefit our youth. Involvement in extracurricular activities like lessons and clubs are also linked to higher academic engagement. If you&amp;rsquo;re a parent in Grand County, take advantage of some of the amazing youth programs the Grand Foundation is proud to support and get your kids intertwined in their community from a young age. If you feel you cannot afford extracurricular activities for your child, the Grand Foundation has funds to help financially support you.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;

How We&amp;rsquo;re Supporting Youth in Our Grand Community&amp;nbsp;

Blue Valley Ranch&amp;nbsp;

The Blue Valley Ranch Youth Fund&amp;nbsp;was established to provide financial assistance to Grand County youth for education, activities, opportunities, and more. These grant funds are available to full time residents of Grand County youth between the ages of birth and 18 years of age and was made possible by a generous donation from Blue Valley Ranch.&amp;nbsp;

GAP Fund for Youth&amp;nbsp;

The G.A.P. Fund for Youth&amp;nbsp;was established to provide financial assistance with participation fees for non-academic activities to full time resident Grand County youth up to 18 years of age. The G.A.P. Fund for Youth assists with all participation fees for sporting activities, ski school, soccer, hockey, leadership camps, Washington DC, France &amp;amp; Costa Rica trips offered by the schools, day camp and after school program costs, and much more. A third of the funds go to Grand Beginnings day care scholarships for Grand County Kids.&amp;nbsp;

Opportunity for Youth Fund&amp;nbsp;

The Opportunity for Youth&amp;nbsp;Fund helps provide financial assistance to young people whose families&amp;rsquo; financial means do not allow them to pay for activities for which the young person has earned the right to participate. The fund supports all activities for kids including theatre, leadership camps, school years abroad, school field trips, training for dyslexia, and high school trips to DC, Costa Rica, France, and so much more.&amp;nbsp;

Interested in supporting the bright future of our Grand County? You can give to one of these amazing funds.

    <title>7 Simple Ways To Help Your Community</title>
    <link>https://grandfoundation.dnn4less.net/News/ID/41/7-Simple-Ways-To-Help-Your-Community</link>
    <description>
Spring Break: Time to Do Some Good!

Having a little downtime can be the perfect chance to lift up your community. Here are some simple ways to use your vacation time to make Grand County just a little better!

Care for Creatures: Help your kids make or fill a simple bird feeder&amp;mdash;and make a plan to welcome back those early hummingbirds who hover in the snow hungry for a meal! Once Grand Country Animal Shelter got the feathered friends covered, volunteer to cuddle and walk dogs at the shelter. Want to make a real difference? Offer to vacation foster with a local animal rescue&amp;mdash;during busy travel times, foster families might need a hand, so host a pet waiting for a home for just few days.

Only Connect: Sometimes we&amp;rsquo;re just too busy to get our county around our community, but a vacation is the perfect time to attend a town council meeting, fundraiser, locals&amp;rsquo; happy hour or church social. Whether it&amp;rsquo;s cozying up for drink specials on a Wednesday, a First Friday dine-and-donate, or your first time checking out a local interest group, you&amp;rsquo;ll be surprised at the warm welcome awaiting you.

Get Cozy and Curious: Head to the library and ask for books by local authors or about local history. This is the perfect time to tuck in and read about Doc Susie, Chief Tabernash, or rustle up some fool-proof high-altitude recipes. The more we know about the place we call home, the better stewards we are.

Think Thrift: If you haven&amp;rsquo;t KonMaried yet, your closets and garages could be begging for a good going over. The popular decluttering method urges people to sort through books, clothes, and papers all at once, to keep only items that &amp;ldquo;spark joy,&amp;rdquo; and bag and donate the rest. The hint to make it easier to let things go&amp;hellip;

&amp;nbsp;

Over $10.1 Million Granted

Over the past 22 years, Grand Foundation has been responsible for over $10.1 million in donations and has awarded over 1,500 grants. From nonprofits to individuals, these grants have made a significant impact on the overall health and vibrancy of our community. Thank you to all the donors who have made this funding possible.

    <title>Five Meaningful End-of-Summer Experiences</title>
    <link>https://grandfoundation.dnn4less.net/News/ID/43/Five-Meaningful-End-of-Summer-Experiences</link>
    <description>The days are getting shorter. Temperatures are falling. And that all-too-familiar &amp;ldquo;end of summer guilt&amp;rdquo; is approaching: did you do everything you wanted to do this summer? Could you have spent your time more wisely? Could you have done more to contribute to the community this season? But it&amp;rsquo;s not too late! There&amp;rsquo;s still plenty of time to pack in fun activities with purpose while the days are still warm. Here are a few things to fill the last days of summer with fun that means something.

Catch a show at the Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre
If you&amp;rsquo;re in the mood for a little Broadway right here in Grand County, it&amp;rsquo;s not too late to catch the Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre&amp;rsquo;s summer musicals! Annie is perfect for a family night out, while A Gentleman&amp;rsquo;s Guide to Love and Murder and The Full Monty would be just the right excuse for a romantic late summer evening on the town. By seeing a show at RMRT you&amp;rsquo;ll be supporting a true Grand County institution&amp;mdash;RMRT, which has been bringing the joy of musical theater to the Grand Lake community since the 1960s, is responsible for generating millions of dollars of revenue for the State of Colorado and creates over 20 Full Time Equivalent jobs (FTEs) within the community. And if just watching isn&amp;rsquo;t enough for you, you can join the ranks of the RMRT volunteers who run many of the theatre&amp;rsquo;s day-to-day operations.

Explore (and improve) Grand County&amp;rsquo;s trails with the Headwaters Trail Alliance
If you love taking advantage of Grand County&amp;rsquo;s many breathtaking trails, consider giving back to the community by doing your part to preserve and improve these trails while the weather is still warm. The Headwaters Trail Alliance is a nonprofit advocacy organization that aims to preserve, enhance, and promote sustainable, high-quality, multi-use trail opportunities in Grand County. Upcoming end-of-summer HTA projects include improvement of switchbacks on the Twisted Ankle Trail (August 18), installing a turnpike on Blue Sky Trail (August 19-20), and cleaning up the beautiful Lake Evelyn Trail (August 31). It&amp;rsquo;s hard to think of a better way to enjoy the last days of summer outdoors while also improving your community!

Have a ball at the Mountain Family Center&amp;rsquo;s Parking Lot Jam
Bring the whole family down to enjoy the Mountain Family Center&amp;rsquo;s end-of-summer bash with live music by Matty Brown and Gary Key (August 23). Entry is free, and all proceeds from food, drink, and the auction go to MFC programs and services, which include housing assistance, hunger relief, health advocacy, and wellness education. Not only is the Parking Lot Jam a fun way to say goodbye to summer, but it&amp;rsquo;s also a great way to help make a difference for the less fortunate members of the Grand County community.

Compete in the Fraser Creative Learning Center&amp;rsquo;s Bert &amp;amp; Ernie Golf Tournament
Calling all golf lovers (amateurs and pros)! The area&amp;rsquo;s oldest and largest golf tournament will take place on Sunday, September 9, 2018, at Pole Creek Golf Course in Tabernash. The Bert &amp;amp; Ernie has both &amp;ldquo;fun&amp;rdquo; and &amp;ldquo;competitive&amp;rdquo; divisions to choose from, so anyone can have a great time competing. The immensely popular event also includes a silent auction and food and drinks. All proceeds go directly to the Fraser Creative Learning Center, which gives Grand County kids a great head start on life and a brighter future by providing high-quality preschool programs to local children.

Hang out with Huskies at Snow Mountain Ranch
Ever wonder what sled dogs do during the summer? Hang out with some of these beautiful dogs before their summer vacation is over! Mondays and Fridays through September 3 at Snow Mountain Ranch, you can meet a few of the dogs from the Ranch&amp;rsquo;s dog sled team and play with them in a three-acre dog park. And while you&amp;rsquo;re there, take advantage of the other summer activities on offer. From archery and disc golf to zip lining and exploring historical sites, every member of the family will find an exciting way to end the summer at Snow Mountain Ranch.

There&amp;rsquo;s no better way to spend the last days of summer than by supporting the many spectacular organizations that make up the Grand County community. There&amp;rsquo;s plenty to do that will leave you&amp;mdash;and our community&amp;mdash;energized and ready for new adventures in the fall.
